I sit here, at my desk (supposed to be doing work), cracking up, because the last 3 blogs I've check, have all mentioned intentions to decluter their homes. I find this to be quite humorous.
Actually, over on Ed's Blog we've been having a lovely discussion about what is clutter, how houses reflect who you are, and why we appreciate the show Clean Sweep... or, something along those lines. :)
In any case, I loved Phil's comment about, "Don't let things own you. Take pride in what you have, live with your things, and let them be a reflection of you." You couldn't have put it better Phil.
Lately, I've mentioned my desire to just get rid of things. Last night, I told hubby about my urge to throw away my old writings, and not have the guilt of "one day I'll go back and rewrite this the right way!"
His response, "Why not just let go of the guilt?"
Now there's a thought. :) Actually, I have been caught up with the urge to simplify my life, and I'm not just talking about clutter here. I'm talking many other aspects. According to Mr. Taxman, even though I work from home, it's more like I own my own business. Which, means comes tax time, I'm very thankful for any refund on my end. So, I want to simplify my tax work. I already have an accountant (I failed accounting - both classes in college), which helps immensley, because he's just awesome, and I don't give a hoot that he's expensive.
I also want to simplify my email. I've got more accounts than I care to admit, some I don't even use any more. I want to create a list of the websites I'm registered on, and passwords, because I'm one of those people who always uses a different password, and then, promplty forgets it, and always has to be reminded of my password, or reset it.
I could go into the paper work, the material items, the crafting stuff, the mental gunk, the excess office supplies... In any case. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of all the extras. I'm tired of overscheduling and spending time at events or with people that drain me. So, I've been thinking, and, I've been planning.
And the plan is to declutter and simplify my life. Baby step, by baby step, I plan on going through and figuring out what I really enjoy (oh fun!), the "have to's", the "should's", the "wants", and the "I want it done but don't want to do its".
So there! I'm on the declutter band wagon to. Me and others will be working on the decluttering of our homes, selves, etc.
What do you want to declutter? Why?

I come up with witty stuff like that to prove my undergrad degree in Philosophy wasn't a total facre.
