Creation

I don't know if I've told you, but lately, I'm bursting forth with creative energy. From poems, to sewing, to crochetting - I. Can't. Stop. (And yes, I'm completely away of how grammatically incorrect that is. But I'm going for feeling here peeps.)

Seriously, it's the most amazing and wonderful thing. I keep making things. I've a pile of fabric and a sewing machine on my dinning room table, and you know what? I don't care if it's cluttering up the space - it's beautiful in my eyes!

I love to stop and look, sometimes even touch the fabric. The possibilities are endless. And the best part? I'm not even into patterns. The excitement comes from what can I make with this on my own without following rules or doing it a certain way.

Since I've been doing this with sewing and creating expecially, I've rediscovered this vast joy I wasn't aware of. It's amazing! I don't want this energy to ever leave!

Who knows what possibilities are out there? Who knows what I'll create next?

Quiet morning

clean house
dusted and vaccuumed
who knew it felt so good?

sleeping child
hum of neighbor's engine
quiet - no birds yet
peaceful yet again

nature table
ready for spring
pinch pots completed
painted and primed
holding new goodies
seashells from the seaside fairies
eagerly awaiting summer's joy

but for me
it's spring
and all about spring
the warm sun
cool breezes
perfect arrangement for being outdoors
letting my senses run wild
yet calming
mind, spirit, and body
all relax
in Nature's presence.

Simple blessings

Sunny days of 70
clear winds
blue sky with feathered clouds
house aired out
curtains dancing in the breeze
simple moment on the back porch
wrapped up in my arms
snuggling in the sun
sleep finds its way
her dreams begin
my mother's heart sighs
holding a precious bundle
quietly napping in my arms

Refocusing with a list

I have been in a state of blissful peace this week. I don't know if it's because I've been getting up at 5 am with hubby again, or what, but I'm loving it.

Maybe it's because I've taken to heart the meaning of "Let Go; Let God" again. But that is a whole other post...

In any case, though things have been going quite as I'd like the last few weeks, I've managed to just bask in the joy of living and being alive. It's also caused me to ponder and reflect (albeit briefly) about things that I'd like to be more aware of in my life, and more conscious of. So, I'm making a list here, so as to sort of be accountable to it, and possibly reflect on later.

List of things I've been pondering:

* Spending more consciously. We've not been doing the best we can with this, and I believe we can do better.
* Continuing to release the clutter, but not being so obsessive about it. Although, it's hard to do that when all I want to do is be outdoors! :)
* Continue to create as inspired, and encourage Pook, too.
* Use up what we have, before buying more.
* Keeping a list of goals in mind: fence in back yard, steps from the porch, clean out back yard, create garden, paint the upstairs, move office to basement.
*And as a side note, remember this.

March's Song

It's early morning, and I'm snuggled in bed before sunrise, serenaded by the bird songs outside my window. I want to learn these songs, at least know which birds sing them. There songs, as well as the daffodils blooming in my sweet garden, have assured me that spring is indeed here.

Things have been so "full" around here lately. I refuse to use the word "busy", because even though a lot is going on, I feel fulfilled. This weekend, I attended a workshop of sorts on Saturday, was blessed to get a night out with two other moms (sans kiddos) for dinner, and then yesterday, was so full, and left me feeling tired but estatically happy.

We (hubby) flipped the mattress and laundered the bed linens. The weather was 70s. We went to the park and walked it twice round (Pook rode her trike.) We opened the windows and aired the house. Did more laundry, organized the basement a bit (which had fallen to the wayside a bit as we found we had more important things to do - like having fun!), played with Pook, and then she fell to sleep, and I got quality chatting time with my love. The perfect end to a full day.

Today, I'm up early and though a bit tired, I am happy and feel full. It's another day of things, but instead of dreading it, I'm looking forward to those little, precious moments I get with my family. This week, March will come to its end on Saturday, and on Sunday, sweet April begins and brings more fullness.

I am excited, because April is proving to be a full month of family and friends, and, the twins will be trecking down for a visit. And I treasure their visits so very much!

A dear friend of mine jokes that you know it's summer at her house because the cleaning part falls to the side, as the call of the outdoors pervades. Though we haven't hibernated as much as we'd have liked this winter, I refuse to let it hold me back from the newfound fullness of spring.

Besides, it's brought forth it's own blessings to our little family, as it's opened up communications as to what we need, and how to arrange things to fit.

This morning, I am filled with fullness and gratitude for the many blessings in my life. One, sleeping softly in her own bed. The other, writing passionately in the other room. He too, has awken early, pushed aside the tiredness for a few quiet, early morning moments of peacefulness. I am so proud of him, of us.

Happy Spring!

It's been a while, I know. But I've been wrapped up in creative creations, helping Pook to write, and those precious little dailinesses of life. Today, in the quiet of the morning, I've found time again. So, here I am.

Yesterday, I was able to visit a friend's farm. I needed some quietness in nature. We took the Pook into the woods, made lost of noise, and just basked in the bits of green. It was lovely, and much needed.

Lately, I've realized just how much time I spend worrying. Worrying about what others think. Worrying about the best decision to make... what color to paint the walls of my home... silly things that just seem to waste my time.

I've been burrying myself into crochetting projects, new placemats, and new touches to turn Pook's nature table into a celebration of spring. It's been lovely to create with material as of late, yet it's been used to fulfill an emptiness, sort of a spiritual nature within me.

A sweet week

It's been a good week this week. It's been one of those mind-blowingly creative, inspiringly productive, let's-get-up-and-dance-when-the-music-plays -a-good-beat type of weeks. OH what fun!

Pook has been really into her alphabet computer game, and doing these practice writing worksheets. This has actually given me time to *gasp!* read and do other crafty projects. She's been really enjoying drawing, we've been reading her Lady Bug magazines together, and I've even had the opportunity to start looking into homschool programs. Who knew there were SO many?

We did get snow on Wednesday; however, it's melting fast, and the signs of spring and longer days are definitely here. Especially in my dining room, and around the house. Slowly, I've been removing the winter decorations, and replacing them with more floral things. I was so inspired, that I decided to sew new place mats, and to create table runners, and Pook was helping me and ready to learn how to sew, and... then my sewing machine broke.

So, I made do with a few stiches to hold things in place until I can get a sewing machine, or borrow one. I was not to be deterred from the yummy yellow fabric I wanted to see on my table! :)

And with that, I wish you all a Happy Friday, and a weekend with spring goodness admist the winter!

Happy March?

Oh my, seems time's slipped through my fingers once more. Here it is March already.

I'm liking all the green I'm seeing this month, even if it isn't green grass. It's been inspiring.

However, since March has started, I've been a bit of a slacker, although, I'm not sure if that is the proper term. Really. Unmade beds, not caring about getting rid of clutter, and thought the house isn't in shambles, I haven't been rushing about to clean it or anything. And you know what? I've actually been enjoying just being and not fretting about that sort of stuff. Quite freeing don't ya know.

Yesterday, though the bed didn't get made, we did do some nummy baking. Good stuff! Pook did more drawings and writing. Did I mention that on Saturday, Da hubby asked her to write her name? She did it. He had to help her with the last letter, but she wrote out the rest. Yup, my eyes were leaky for a bit.

Each day, I think I fall more in love with my sweet one.
