On May 29, I somehow managed to twist my knee. Instead of resting it, I proceeded with my daily stuff, because it didn't hurt that much. It did creak a bit though. So, last week, I decided to call my doctor, as, it was getting close to a month, still creaking, and noticeable pain. The doctor's office didn't give me an appointment until July 13, because, I hadn't been there in 2 years. (Excuse me for not being sick.) Thus, I'm been regarded as a new patient.
Yes, as of tomorrow, I am scheduling an appointment with a new doctor, you can be. Thankfully, I've a friend who's hubby is an oncologist, and, who reccomended I REALLY rest it and take ibuprofen to help the swelling. Since doing that, my knee's now stiff (I am affirming that's part of the healing process). At brunch today, another doctor who's really a radiologist but was studying to be an orthopedic doctor, highly reccomended I get an MRI to check for tears in the cartilage.
I keep telling myself there is a lesson in all of this. Definitely rest is one of them and slowing down, but it's really aggravating, as I'm out of my routine, and have been avoiding exercise to help the healing process. I want to be rearranging the basement, packing things up, painting the door, piling up things for donation... Blarg!
I plan on resting and using this as an opportunity to learn from. Although, I'm finding it really damn hard to sit on my a$$ when there is so much I want to do!!! Grrr!!
I suppose the lessons to learn are:
1 - how to slow down
2 - how to exercise creatively without using my knee, or putting weight on it
3 - how I can get things down around the house by staying off my knee and keeping it elevated
4 - finding a new doctor
5 - depending on my hubby to take care of things I usually do, and hoping they don't drive him or me nuts
6 - get a yearly check up at the doctor, or at least find out how long before they declare you new patient status again
7 - pay more attention to what I'm eating, now that I'm not exercising
8 - how to be patient
Oh yay. And, the end result will be a lovely healing of my knee; I'm affirming.

Well... I have a knee that isn't going to get any better. Years of backpacking, hiking, and general use has done some wear and tear. My left knee has tenidious and just doesn't want to work correctly.
Oh it is so much fun getting old.
