Well dear friends, I'm looking for some input and advice. You see, last year, for Christmas, I decided to make some heartfelt gifts for a few friends of mine. I was feeling creative, so, I made some handpainted cards that they could enjoy, and then mail off to others. I also made one friend, who starts a new journal each year, a special journal complete with comments, quotes, and little surprises throughout.
So, when one of the cards I made, was enjoyed, and then sent on to a real life artist (we're talking pieces in the freakin' Smithsonian), who liked it so much she passed it on to one of her buds (who, happens to be a billionaire), who liked it so much she passed it on to one of her friends... well, I'm getting ahead of things. Before this happened, the friend I made it for wanted me to make more custom cards for her, and she'd even pay for them! Then, this happened, and she has been encouraging me to put more together and sell them. AND to make personalized journals too.
SELL them.
And, I've actually been playing with this idea in my mind. Because I love making them. But, I also love making them for individual people. So, I don't know about making them enmass for others I don't know. Plus, I don't know how confident I feel about my work. I'm no realist painter; I just paint for fun.
So, realistically, I'd be surprised if I turned this into a major money marketing thing... but, it would be kind of cool to do. I just don't know if I'm up for the venture.
So, jury is still out... but, input from others on this is most welcome.

You don't have to be a realist painter to have beautiful artwork. Most of the great artists didn't paint to make money, they painted because they enjoyed it, for fun, to express themselves.
So create, express, have fun, and if you end up with a bunch of artwork that gets sold because other people see the richness and love that you put into it, then you should accept that as an added bonus!
